Munch Night, May 17th
Join The Calapooia Food Alliance for Munch Night at 6pm Friday May 17th, at the Bramble House for dinner and a presentation by Dr. David G. Lewis regarding his recent book; Tribal Histories of the Willamette Valley.
Anthropologist, David G Lewis, PhD, will take us back to that time when the Kalapuyans harvested wild salmon, dug camas bulbs and lived off the land for thousands of years! If you have been to the Linn County Historical Museum in Brownsville, you’ve seen the amazing installation David G. Lewis had a major part in setting up documenting the indigenous tribes of the Willamette Valley.
David G. Lewis, PhD, and member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, is a recognized researcher, scholar, writer and Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Ethnic Studies & Indigenous Studies at Oregon State University. For more than twenty years, Lewis has been passionate about studying the original histories of the people of Oregon and California and has an extensive record of collaborative projects with regional scholars, tribes, local governments, and communities. Lewis's research specializes in the history of Kalapuyans and other Western Oregon tribes, which he explores through journal essays and on his blog The Quartux Journal: https://ndnhistoryresearch.com/
